Land Claims (Flan)

Pokecade uses the Flan claiming mod to let players protect their bases, farms, and builds from other players. Flan is entirely server-side — no client mod is needed. You connect with a vanilla Minecraft client and claiming just works.

How to Create a Claim

  • Obtain a golden hoe (the default claiming tool).
  • Hold the golden hoe — your current claim block balance (available and used) is displayed.
  • Right-click one block on the ground to set the first corner.
  • Right-click a second block to set the opposite corner.
  • A rectangular claim is created between the two corners.
  • You can also use /flan addClaim to create claims via command.

    Claim Blocks

Players have a limited number of claim blocks that determine how much land they can protect. The claim area consumes blocks proportional to the region's size. Claim blocks accrue over time as you play, so longer-term players can protect more land. Admins can also grant additional claim blocks.

Claims extend downward from the surface (10 blocks by default) and upward to the build limit. If you dig below your claim floor, the claim auto-extends downward to cover your underground builds. Claims are not locked to chunk boundaries — you can create any rectangular size you want.

    Permissions

Every claim has a permission system that controls what other players can do inside it:

    • Global Permissions: Affect all non-grouped players who enter your claim. By default, other players cannot break blocks, open chests, interact with entities, or use redstone inside your claim.
    • Groups: Create custom access levels for specific players. Two default groups exist — Co-Op (full access partners) and Visitors (limited access). You can create additional custom groups.
    • Per-Player Permissions: Grant or revoke specific permissions for individual players.

Permissions cover: block breaking, block placing, chest access, entity interaction, item frame interaction, redstone use, explosions, mob spawning, and more.

    Subclaims

Subclaims are claims within claims, each with their own independent permission set. This is useful for town-like setups where different areas need different rules — for example, a public trading hall inside your otherwise private base, or a shared farm area that only certain friends can access.

    • Use /flan switchMode to toggle subclaim editing mode.
    • Create subclaims the same way as regular claims (golden hoe, two corners).
    • Subclaim permissions can be set to "default" to inherit from the parent claim, or customized independently.
    • Subclaims cannot be nested further (single nesting level only).

    Key Commands

    CommandAction
/flan addClaimCreate a claim via command
/flan menuOpen the GUI for managing claim permissions
    /flan switchModeToggle subclaim editing mode
    /flan listList all your claims
    /flan personalGroupsManage personal group templates

    Tips

    • Claim your base early — even a small claim prevents griefing and theft.
    • Use subclaims for shared areas like community farms or trading halls while keeping your storage private.
    • The /back command on Pokecade respects Flan claim boundaries, so you can't teleport into someone else's protected area.
    • Expand your claims as you earn more claim blocks over time. Plan your base layout with future expansion in mind.
